Cheating with Keywords Research Tool and Peoples’ Minds
Thursday, April 10th, 2008In this post I am going to show you how SOME Internet marketing gurus and cheating inexperienced people and playing with their minds.
This post was ‘inspired’ by one of my friends and business partners in Sweden. From time to time he sends me email from the guy who is very popular as Internet marketer in Sweden and, perhaps, other Scandinavian countries. I treat these emails with irony, because usually this Internet marketing "guru" sends to his newsletter base the "new" strategies and tips that are quite often 2-4 years old.
This is not a crime. It’s le’s say on the verge, but nothing bad.
But one of the latest emails that my friend got from this "guru" was a shock for me - he crossed the line. The guy was boasting to his base how quickly he got 1st page in Google for a very competitive keyword. He lied because his keyword was not competitive at all.
What this "guru" did can cheat many people who are not SEO experts. So what he showed as a proof was typing a keywords in Google search field and saying, ‘You see, it has over 500k results in Google and I am 1st page close to top over a short period of time.’
I just can imagine what effect this can produce on people. Wow! The guy is telling the truth - look, he’s 1st page for over hundreds of thousands of results.
That is why I decided to create a short and simple video that explains how you can measure your real competition. Because typing the keywords into Google is not showing you the real competitors. It just shows the pages that have SOME of these keywords on the page or in the incoming links to that page.

That is why - the next time a "guru" or SEO company shows you their site or blog or whatever on the 1st page in Google as a proof - make sure you follow this advice and check if these keywords are THAT competitive when being searched like explained in my video.
This will show how trustworthy they are and will save you much nerves, money and time.
