How Many Backlinks Exactly Should I Build
To Get Google Page #1 for My Keyword?

First of all, let me applaud to the people who started to ask this type of questions. This is the best proof that you have advanced in SEO, because this is one of the major questions in SEO. And this is one of the biggest mysteries in SEO, as well.

You see, Google team understands everything. They also understand that it is impossible to stop people from building backlinks in their fight for the 1st page in Google. Those who will build these backlinks unprofessionally - will be punished by Google’s algorithm. Those who build backlinks naturally and professionally - will get the score. And Google understands that it is impossible to stop it.

BUT

Google team is wise enough to NOT SHOW some of the things that can waste the very idea of the search engine. And I really admire how they did it.

To put it into simple words - Google has closed the way to see how many backlinks exactly and what type of backlinks any site has.

If that wouldn’t be closed, then all I needed to do would be type a keyword into Google search and check all backlinks that site No1 for this keyword has. This would give me an exact number of backlinks I need to build. Surely I am talking right now just about the number of links, not about their quality - but quality is another big topic.

So, Google made a very wise step and closed a possibility to check how many backlinks exactly each site has. They show just a tiny portion. And this is smart, otherwise the whole Internet would change into the rat race of people who are trying to build more backlinks than competitor has.

That is why when you ask any SEO guru how many backlinks exactly you will need to get page 1 for a specific keyword, the guru (if this guru is frank enough with you) will answer “I don’t know for sure, it looks like several hundred would be enough, but I cannot guarantee that for sure.”

So, this is the question where SEO experts have to take decisions based on:

• some tools available
• their SEO intuition

But this is not a problem. Because, in any case, persistent and wise backlink building will provide its results. You just need to make sure that the way you are building backlinks is looking natural. And what can be more natural that your content being republished (and diversified) which gives you one-way backlink? This is how article marketing works, and Google is not punishing for article marketing.
